OpenLM License harvesting is releasing idle licenses back into the license pools and that allows many more users to utilize the same number of licenses. In other words, it frees up licenses that are currently being held by applications or users who are not actively using them.
Automatically eliminates idle sessions
OpenLM provides you with a few ways to prevent idle sessions, depending on the application in question. We call this process license harvesting. OpenLM will automatically release an idling license based on the parameters set by the system administrator, which takes into account two factors:
- Usage percentage
- Idle time release threshold.
Access the most relevant data
Track the usage of the license dongles for a time frame you are interested in. We will give you the data you need.
These are based on the system resource threshold parameters through which admins inform the OpenLM server what they need to consider to step in via the Agent and harvest an unused license. The configurable system resource parameters are:
- Processor time
- I/O data operations.
Another method OpenLM is releasing idle licenses is Machine Learning (ML). OpenLM will learn the usage pattern of the end user and will be able to significantly reduce the application idle time, as it will know when the engineer will leave the application open on his or her workstation.
Prerequisites & System Requirements
The OpenLM Actual usages extension requires the OpenLM Agent to be installed on the end-user’s workstations and the OpenLM Server on a dedicated machine. Download these components here.
