Scope

OpenLM supports monitoring a wide and growing variety of license managers. This document explains how to configure OpenLM to monitor the Solidworks EPDM database and track license usage and reporting.

## Before you begin

- OpenLM Platform
- OpenLM Broker v25.x or higher installed on the same machine as Solidworks, and approve it in [Broker Hub](https://openlm.com/documentation/cloud/data-collection/broker-hub).

    Configure OpenLM Server for EPDM

1. Ensure you have a single OpenLM Serveron a central network server.

1. From the Windows Start menu, go to OpenLM → OpenLM Server.

1. Select the LM Tools tab → EPDM.

1. Enter the EPDM connection string fields:
    - Server Name → EPDM server hostname or IP
    - Database Name → EPDM database name
    - SQL Username → database username
    - Password → password for the username

1. Select Test to validate the connection.

1. Go to License Servers → Add and configure:
    - Type → EPDM
    - Description → descriptive server name
    - Time Zone → license server time zone
    - Hostname and Port → any text (not significant for EPDM)
    - Is Triad Configuration → select if applicable
    - Clear the checkboxes for Use Broker and Use License File

1. Select Apply.

1. For added functionality, consider:
    - Installing the OpenLM Workstation Agent
    - Evaluating Features

1. Review results in OpenLM Reports.

## Approve SolidWorks EPDM in OpenLM Platform

1. Sign in to OpenLM Platform.
2. From the menu, go to **License Servers** → **Pending Server**.
3. Select the SolidWorks EPDM license manager, then select **Approve and Merge**.

## Verify the integration

1. In OpenLM Platform, go to **License Servers Live** → **Server Statistics**.
2. Confirm SolidWorks EPDM appears with a green status indicator.

It can take up to 3 minutes for the status to update for a new connection.
