title: Install Broker
description: Install the OpenLM Broker on your license server to collect license usage data and send it to the OpenLM Platform.
product: OpenLM Platform
---

The Broker runs on your license server machine. It collects license usage data from your license managers and sends it to the OpenLM Platform through the [Broker Hub](https://openlm.com/documentation/cloud/data-collection/broker-hub).

## Before you begin

- Verify that the license server machine meets the [system requirements](https://openlm.com/documentation/cloud/deployment-operations/system-requirements).
- Confirm you have the [authorization file](https://openlm.com/documentation/cloud/getting-started/authorize-components) for this Broker.
- Confirm network access from the Broker machine to your license manager server and to the internet (port 443).

## Installation steps

Download the Broker installer for your platform from the [Downloads page](https://www.openlm.com/downloads/).

Run the installer on the license server machine. Follow the on-screen prompts.

During installation, upload the authorization file you generated in the [previous step](https://openlm.com/documentation/cloud/getting-started/authorize-components).

After installation, open the OpenLM Platform and navigate to the **Broker Hub**. Confirm that the Broker appears and shows a connected status.

For detailed platform-specific instructions (Windows, Linux RPM, DEB, tar.gz), interactive walkthroughs, and troubleshooting, see [Install and configure OpenLM Components](https://openlm.com/documentation/cloud/deployment-operations/components-installation).
