Follow these steps to configure OpenLM to monitor license usage and retrieve license statistics.

## Requirements

Before you query the license manager, make sure you have:

- OpenLM SLM v2.x or later installed on a machine in your organization
- OpenLM Broker v4.16 or later installed on the same machine as FVA-Workbench
- A dedicated FVA-Workbench user account

## Monitoring capabilities

The current monitoring capabilities for FVA-Workbench through the OpenLM Broker are:

| Commands | Logs | Quantity | Expiration date | Denied | Borrowing | Report resolution |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Yes | No | Yes | Yes | No | No | By minute |

Using the Broker also allows buffered communication and allows remote start and stop of the license manager service.

## OpenLM Broker configuration

OpenLM Broker queries the license manager locally. Once collected, the data is sent to OpenLM SLM for processing.

> **Note:** OpenLM Broker must already be installed and configured to report to OpenLM SLM before proceeding.

## Add the FVA-Workbench license manager to OpenLM Broker

1. In the Broker web UI, click **License Managers**.
2. Click **Add license manager**.
3. In the **Add license manager** dialog, enter the FVA-Workbench LM port number.
4. From the **LM type** drop-down, select **FVA**.
5. Click **Add**.

6. Select the **Commands** tab. Under **Data Inquiry**, click **Execute** to verify that the output is correct.

7. Switch to the **Vendors** tab. Click **Add Vendor**, enter `FVA-Workbench` in the **Vendor Name** field, and click **Continue**.
8. Select the **Advanced** tab and enter the FVA-Workbench login and password.

*Alternatively, navigate to `C:\Program Files\OpenLM\OpenLM Broker\lmsettings\fva.properties` and enter the credentials manually. Restart the Broker service if you use this method.*

9. Click **Save**.

The FVA-Workbench license manager is now added to OpenLM Broker and will start reporting data to OpenLM SLM.

## OpenLM SLM configuration

### Automatic configuration through the EasyAdmin

If you followed the preceding steps, OpenLM Broker should now be transmitting data to OpenLM SLM.
The final step is to approve the configuration in the EasyAdmin UI:

1. Go to **EasyAdmin → Start → Widgets → License Manager - Servers**.
2. Click the link showing the number of servers pending approval.

3. Double-click the row with **Pending** status. The type for FVA-Workbench is displayed as **OpenLM Generic**.

4. Verify the host name, port, and time zone, then click **Approve**.

At this point, FVA-Workbench is automatically added to OpenLM SLM, and the configuration is complete.

## Verify your FVA-Workbench configuration

To confirm that the FVA-Workbench License Server is monitored correctly:

1. Open the EasyAdmin UI.
2. Go to **Start → Widgets → License Manager - Servers**.
3. Check that the configured license manager appears in the list.
A green circle icon indicates an active connection to the license server.

> **Note:** It may take up to 3 minutes for the status indicator to update for a new connection.
