This document describes how to configure OpenLM to monitor Venturis License Manager and obtain license statistics.

## Requirements

To query Venturis License Manager, install:

1. OpenLM Server v21.x or higher on a machine in your organization.
2. OpenLM Broker v21.x or higher on the same machine as Venturis License Manager.

## Monitoring capabilities and features

Current monitoring capabilities through OpenLM Broker:

| Feature | Resolution | License totals | License usage | Denials reporting | Borrowed license reporting | Expiration date reporting | Multiple server redundancy |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Support | By second | ✔ | ✔ | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ |

## OpenLM Broker configuration

OpenLM Broker reads the Venturis log file. Data is compiled and sent to OpenLM Server.
License files are configured manually in Broker. Broker reads the log file and tracks session changes. The license file and options file are monitored for updates based on the configured **Watch interval**.

### Manual configuration

1. Select **Add Port** and enter the Venturis port number (for example, 27003).
2. Select **Venturis** from **License Manager Type**. Select **Apply**.
3. Select **Advanced** and enable **Set path manually**.
4. Select **Add** to select the Venturis license file path.
5. Clear **Watch license file**.
6. In **Vendors**, enter **Venturis** in **Vendor name**.
7. In **Options file path**, add the options file path (for example, `venturis_lic_man.ini`). Select **[…]** to browse to the file.
8. Clear **Watch options file**.
9. Go to **Log files** and select **Add log file**.
10. Select the created **log** node, select **[…]**, and browse to the Venturis log file (for example, `venturis_licman.log`).
11. Select **Apply**.
12. Select **Restart Broker**.

### Configuration using Broker web UI

1. Open a browser and go to `http://localhost:5090/`.
2. Go to **License Managers** → **Add license manager**.
3. Select **Venturis** as the license manager type, enter the port (for example, 2679), and select **Add**.
4. In **Settings**, select one of:
   - Detect license file path automatically
   - Set license file manually
   - Allow license file sorting
   - Watch license file
5. In **Commands**, set **Executable path** to the `i4blt` executable on the IBM LUM license server.
6. In **Vendors**, enter the correct vendor name.
7. Select **Save**.

## OpenLM Server configuration

### Automatic configuration through EasyAdmin

If Broker is transmitting data, approve the configuration in EasyAdmin:

1. Open EasyAdmin.
2. In **License Servers**, select **Approve** for the Venturis entry.

Venturis License Manager is now added and configured.

### Manual configuration

If automatic configuration fails:

1. Go to **Start → Administration → License Manager Servers**.
2. Select **Add LM**.
3. Enter a display name.
4. Select **Venturis** as **Type**.
5. Enter a description (for example, `VenturisLM`).
6. Set the **Timezone** to the license server location.
7. Enter the **Hostname** and **Port** from Broker.
8. Leave **Is triad configuration** unchecked.
9. Check **Use Broker**.
10. Select **Save**.

OpenLM Server is now set to monitor data from Broker.

## How to verify configuration

1. Open EasyAdmin in a browser (`http://<OpenLM Server FQDN>:5015` or `https://cloud.openlm.com`).
2. Go to **Start → Widgets → License Manager Servers**.
3. Verify Venturis License Manager appears in the list. A green circle indicates an active connection.

If newly added, status may take up to three minutes to update.
