Interfacing Infor SLM License Manager with OpenLM

Overview

This document outlines the steps required to integrate Infor SLM License Manager with OpenLM. By completing the configuration, you can monitor license usage, gather statistics, and ensure optimized license management.

Requirements

To set up Infor SLM integration with OpenLM, the following components are necessary:

1. OpenLM SLM:
   • Version 2.x installed on a local machine within your organization.

   • Alternatively, an SLMC account.

2. OpenLM Broker:
   • Version 24.11 or higher installed on the same machine as the Infor SLM License Manager.

Configuration Steps

OpenLM Broker Configuration

1. Access the OpenLM Broker Interface
   • Open a web browser and access the Broker interface using the URL:
   http://localhost:5090 (adjust the port number if it’s not the default, e.g., 5091 or 5092).
2. Add a License Manager
3. Navigate to the License Managers tab.
4. Click Add License Manager.
5. In the pop-up window:
   • Select Infor SLM from the drop-down list.
   • Enter the Infor SLM port number (e.g., 4325).
   • Click Add.
   

6. Configure License File Settings
   • Go to the Settings tab. The Broker can auto-detect the license file.
   • Verify the detected file path, or select Set license file path manually to navigate to the license.xml file.
   

7. Switch to the Commands tab.
8. In the data inquiry field, delete the existing path and type:
   cmd /c type “C:\InforSLM\monitor_dts.xml”
   Note: The path provided (C:\InforSLM\monitor_dts.xml) is an example. Replace it with the actual path to your file on your system. Ensure the path is accurate to avoid errors.
   
9. Click Save, then click Execute. A positive execute command result will look like this:
   
   
   
10.  Switch to the Vendors tab.
11. Click Add Vendor.
12. In the pop-up window:
    • Enter the vendor name as Infor SLM.
    • Click Continue.
    • Click Save.
    
    

OpenLM SLM Configuration

Once the OpenLM Broker is set up, proceed to configure OpenLM via the EasyAdmin User Interface:

1. Open EasyAdmin in your browser.
2. Navigate to Start → Widgets → License Manager Servers.
3.  In the License Servers window, click the There are Servers Pending Approval icon.
   

4. Approve the License Manager:
5. Double-click on the pending license manager (displayed as OpenLM Generic).
   
6. In the Display Name field, enter a recognizable name for the license manager.
7. Use the Custom Fields to add relevant details, such as country, usage scope, or description.
   
   
8. Verify the configuration details and click Approve.

The Infor SLM License Manager will now be added to the OpenLM SLM. After a brief period (up to 3 minutes), the system will parse the data and display its status with a green circle, indicating an active connection.

Verifying the Infor SLM Configuration

To confirm that the Infor SLM License Manager is correctly configured:

1. Open EasyAdmin in your browser.
2. Navigate to EasyAdmin Start → Widgets → License Servers.
3. Verify that the configured license manager appears in the server list.

• A green circle node indicates an active connection to the license server.

Note: For new connections, it may take up to 3 minutes for the status indicator to change.
