Siemens SIMATIC

This document describes how to interface OpenLM with Siemens SIMATIC to monitor license usage and obtain statistics.

Requirements

To query Siemens SIMATIC, install:

1. OpenLM Platform
2. OpenLM Broker v25.x or higher installed on the same machine as SIMATIC, and approve it in Broker Hub.

OpenLM Broker configuration

Broker reads the Siemens SIMATIC log file. Once read, data is compiled and sent to OpenLM Server.

Configuring via Broker UI

OpenLM Broker must be installed and configured to report to OpenLM Server before continuing:

1. Open a browser and go to http://localhost:5090/.

2. Click License Managers, then Add License Manager.

   

3. In the pop-up, select the license manager type, enter any port number (for example, 888), then click Add.

   

4. Go to Vendors. Click Add Vendor, enter the name, then click Confirm.

   

5. Go to Log Files.

   

6. Click Add Log File, then either enter the path manually or browse for it using the magnifying glass icon.

7. Select the log file, then click Open.

8. From the drop-down, select vendor Siemens SIMATIC.

9. Click Continue.

   

10. Click Save.

    

11. Log in to OpenLM Platform.

12. From Menu, go to License Servers.

    

13. On left menu, select Pending Server

14. On the list, select the SIMATIC license manager and click on Approve and Merge

    

15. In OpenLM Web Interface -> Menu -> License Servers Live -> Server Statistics.

16. Ensure SIMATIC appears in the list with a green status indicator.

Note: It can take up to 3 minutes for the status to update for new connections.
